Painting in Maroubra Junction
Maroubra Junction is the commercial heart of Maroubra, centred on the busy intersection of Maroubra Road and Anzac Parade around Pacific Square shopping centre. This is our home base. Rolling Strokes is a Maroubra Junction local, and we know these streets inside out. The area is characterised by medium-density apartments clustered around the junction, older 1960s and 1970s brick walk-up apartment blocks, and some terraces and semi-detached homes on quieter side streets. Commercial shopfronts with residential above create mixed-use painting opportunities. The many apartment blocks in the area generate consistent strata painting work, from common area refreshes to full exterior recoats.

What does painting around Maroubra Junction involve?
The junction is where Maroubra Road meets Anzac Parade, and the shape of it is still the shape the trams left. The La Perouse line ran down the centre of Anzac Parade through the junction until 1961, Dudley’s Emporium opened here in 1912 as the area’s first shopping centre, and Pacific Square now sits on the old Stockland Mall site. The walk-up flats that filled the side streets either side of Anzac Parade in the 1960s and 70s are the bulk of what we paint. The ABS counts the junction inside Maroubra, which had 11,992 occupied private dwellings at the 2021 Census, 48.5% of them flats and 20.9% semi-detached, with 42.5% rented.
That mix decides the job. On a walk-up it is painted face brick and render, balcony soffits, steel window frames and stair balustrades, and the work sits on common property, so the owners corporation has to resolve it before we lift a brush. On the mixed-use buildings along Maroubra Road the shop trades below while someone lives above, so above-awning work runs early or after close.
